Just a quick reminder for everyone that its National Dog Bite Prevention Week. (I we're already two days into it, but better late than never.) According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, nearly 4.7 million people are bitten by dogs each year. And, in the words of the AVMA, "It's up to people, not dogs, to stop dog bites." To promote the week, the AVMA has created an online brochure and list of tips (with an assist from State Farm) -- ranging from proper socialization of dogs to leaving dogs alone when they're eating or caring for puppies. It's worth a quick look this week, even if its just a refresher.
