Best Leash Ever (Seriously)

I don't normally rave about products, but this leash is the best thing I've ever bought for my dog. For many years, no matter what leash we used, my dog, Mack, tugged and tugged and tugged, even if that tugging made him choke and cough and pant. Then one day I wandered into Whiskers. As Mack lunged at the basket of rawhides, dragging me with him, the store's owner handed me something called a Tug n Hug. "You need this," he said simply. And so I did.

The Tug n Hug looks like a standard harness, but it tightens around your dog's chest as the leash is pulled. Unlike a choke collar, the Tug n Hug is gentle; when you pull on it, it just grips the large muscles surrounding the dog's upper rib cage. It's not painful, but it sure is effective. From one moment to the next, I was in control; it was like the first time I drove a car with power steering.

Curiously, it's hard to find the Tug n Hug. Maybe it's the bad name. Perhaps the company, with its circa-1997 homespun website, doesn't know much about distribution. In any case, if your dog pulls, get yourself a Tug n Hug. You'll thank me.
